Lettuce, Fresh from the Minnesota Zoo

The trend to be more Eco-friendly is taking it's hold on places everywhere- new products are being created for less harshness to the environment, people are carpooling more, and schools are turning off their electricity and air conditioning over the summer. The most recent big business to turn green is the Minnesota Zoo, in Apple Valley, Minnesota. What exactly is the zoo doing?

Well, they're growing their own vegetables.

"The vegetables aren't being transported except across the lawn and into the kitchen." David Schmidt, who tends to the plants, says.

The fresh vegetables grown are used in the Minnesota Zoo's restaurant, using less fuel to get to it's destination and tasting ten times better.
