Born in 1954 in Mississippi, Ruby Bridges was an iconic little girl during the Civil Rights Movement. At the age of 6, Ruby was the first little girl to attend an all white school- people were so upset by this, that they all removed their children. Day after day, angry mobs stood outside Frantz Elementary, yelling horrible things. And every day, Ruby had to walk past them, escorted by police officers.
Eventually things died down. The white children were enrolled back in school again, and people began to accept change. And it was all thanks to Ruby Bridges, the six-year-old.
